Hi there! I’m Leisa Flatley.
I am a lawyer, lecturer and qualified coach passionate about developing thoughtful, capable and resilient professionals.
I lecture at the College of Law, teaching legal practical skills, risk management, cyber risk, management of self, wellbeing and resilience. My work focuses on building professional judgment — helping lawyers think clearly, manage risk responsibly and navigate the realities of modern practice.
Before moving into education, I practised as an insurance litigator with extensive experience in professional indemnity, insurance and civil matters. That experience informs my teaching and keeps it grounded in the practical consequences of legal decision-making.
I designed and implemented a national mentoring program and have a strong interest in coaching, educating and professional identity development. As a qualified coach, I support students and practitioners to build confidence, clarity and resilience in their careers.
I believe legal education should prepare professionals not only to meet standards — but to exercise judgment with integrity in a changing world.
Reach out if you are looking for coaching, or are interested in cultivating professional skills through one of my Professional Judgment Labs.
